So I had to break into the house today, because they had propped all the doors closed. All of the doors are painted, although the utility door upstairs is still missing, and after today, I'm convinced the garage is painted in the exterior color, rather than the interior. Of course, because all the trim is the same color as the walls, it's all even more brown now than it was before :)

The title says it all. Still no baseboards on half the walls upstairs - and still no door, even though the one in the garage is gone now. When we stopped by today, the house looked exactly the same as we left it on Friday. But, I took a couple pics of the now-filled in septic test holes that have been there since early April. They spent most of Friday finishing up different things. The upstairs door is still in the garage though. Well, the trim guys (and there's only 2 of them) are almost done. Most of the doors and shelves are in, along with all the window sills and baseboard. It's kinda weird how simple it seems to want "rounded corners" throughout the house, and it was really easy for the drywall crew to do that - but it's a major pain for trim, cos then they have to do all this fine work on the baseboards and wood caps. When we left, they were finishing up some work on the stairs, and the upstairs utility door hadn't gone in yet. Today the "trimming" crew got started. They're going to be doing all doors and frames, window sills, baseboards, pantry/closet shelves. They also replaced the master shower tray today (it was cracked). Things are well on their way! We had a fencer (lol) out today. Fuz also had the chance to meet the septic folks who told him that our ever growing pile of dirt is covering one of our spray head locations. So our builder is trying to get most of the dirt out of the way. That's actually the name of the texture on our walls. It's standard, and though we really wanted smooth walls, we weren't willing to pay more for them. So our walls now look exactly like the walls in our current house, except not painted. Last night we also had a few visitors, and ended up staying out at the lot until really late (and really dark), which is why the blog is late :) Yesterday we reminded the builder of which interior door style we chose, trim and doors are coming next, and there are a few things we need to mention to him (like they drywalled over a couple switches in the kitchen, and they never drywalled the arch). The funny things you see when building a home! I have no idea if anyone's working today - but I wanted to post some more about the fencing options. Below, I put up some pictures of the area(s) to be fenced, as well as some pictures of what we're thinking about. (Sorry about all the different picture sizes, I got them from all over!) |
