Day 9 (aka *I* Rested on the 8th Day)

So we didn't make it out to the lot last night. I know, 'boo' me, no blog right after I asked for more comments. But we were back out today - never fear - and there were definitely signs of progress.

They're framing out the foundation, building the plywood form that the concrete will be poured into. This means that soon the engineer and inspector will be out there (us too!) to make sure all is well before they pour. I'm thinking by the end of next week, we'll possibly actually have a slab, believe it or not. Keep in mind this is 9 days in. I'm impressed.

When we got there they were still on site (about 6PM), which is always a little uncomfortable for me, especially since I'm taking pictures. We noticed the backhoe/front end loader and bobcat are both parked away from the action right now, which made me wonder out loud if they leave them there on the weekends :) The pics are probably not as high quality tonight though, as our camera informed me its batteries were "exhausted" when I turned it on at the lot, so I had to resort to my phone. Take a look and see, they're so small here that you may not even notice...

I am SO surprised that a bobcat can be left on-site overnight and still be there in the morning without any security around! LOL, I definitely have to come up and see the place eventually.

I am still grasping the sheer amount of concrete that is required to make a 5 (?)ft high foundation.... Holy Shmoley.

I know, but it's a quiet area, so we think it's safer than most places. And the neighbors keep an eye out as well.

You're both always welcome :)

What surprises me is how much foundation is above ground. Somehow I always thought the foundation was mostly underground, but this one is definitely mostly above ground :) It's 5' at the high end, only about 2' at the low end. The lot is VERY sloped.
