Microwave over the stove? Why? Why? Why? this is the bone of contention between lawrence and I with our apartment kitchen. I hate them and lawrence find they so cool... argh!

It saves a lot on counter space. We installed the microwave over our stove in our house now (it didn't come with a microwave).

I know it save a lot of counterspaces - that is why lawrence is so gung-ho about it, but I hate it because of safety aspects of it, short gal & pot on stove & using microwave at same time - not a good combination at all. I already getting burned enough without adding this. LOL, lawrence compromise though, and we planning to do a cabinet build-in.

I never had any problems, and I shorter than you. It sticks out usually almost as far as the stove does, so not a problem. We had a choice of "split appliances", which means the oven, stove/cooktop, and microwave would have been separate in various cabinets, etc - but it was a couple thousand dollars just to do that.
